• Gosport pop-up shop

This spring, local makers from Gosport will be showcasing their work at a new pop-up shop, One of a Kind, on Gosport High Street.

The shop has been created to continue the presence of Gosport Gallery, operated by Hampshire Cultural Trust, in the community while its home at the Old Grammar School is refurbished.

The shop launched in February and has already enjoyed successful first weeks, sharing and selling the work of makers in the community in the creative retail area. The space is not just being used for retail it is also holding community exhibitions and family craft activities will be offered during school holidays. There is also a meeting space within the unit for local groups to hire, where a number of Gosport Gallery’s regular groups have already been meeting in the past month.

Wendy Redman, venue manager at Gosport Gallery, commented: ‘We’re absolutely thrilled that our new pop-up shop, One of a Kind, has been able to open its doors to the public. Over the coming months, while refurbishment work is taking place at the Old Grammar School, we will be working with our partners from Gosport Cultural Consortium to showcase the work of six local makers every month in the shop’s creative retail area.’

Plans are also progressing to open another retail unit as part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone.
