This October half term, visitors can enjoy a hauntingly good time at 878 AD, located in The Brooks Shopping Centre in Winchester. From Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 October all the family can come and get stuck in with some classic Anglo-Saxon medicines and remedies and learn all about tricky treat-ments of the past! Work with Winchester’s local healers and leeches to create cures, supply salves and help heal the good folk of Wessex. These interactive sessions will allow brave visitors to experience the peculiar potions of the past and even have a go at creating their own.
As well as peculiar potions, visitors can experience everything 878 AD has to offer, including the sights, sounds and smells of Anglo-Saxon Winchester and discover the stories of the people who lived there, brought to life with the spectacular world of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Discovery Tour: Viking Age. 878 AD is a seamless experience in two parts: an interactive attraction with live performance and an augmented reality, self-led app tour of Winchester.
Scary Saxons and Peculiar Potions is included in the 878 AD venue admission charge and takes place from Saturday 21 to Sunday 29 October, during venue opening hours. Pre-booking is not required but is advised. The activity is suitable for ages 5+ and children must be accompanied.
