878 AD is a major new visitor attraction recreating a key moment in Winchester’s Anglo-Saxon history, brought to life through the world of the video game franchise Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, cinematic audio-visual projection and live interactive performance. It is a unique, immersive experience that will take visitors back to a pivotal point, not only in the history of the city, but in the history of England as an emerging, unified nation: the defeat of the Vikings by Alfred the Great at the Battle of Edington in May 878.

Aldershot Military Museum - Aldershot

Housed in the only surviving brick-built barrack blocks left in Aldershot, the museum tells the story of daily life for both soldier and civilian. The story of Aldershot Military Town and the towns of Aldershot, Farnborough and Cove is told using our vibrant collections within the fascinating, original buildings. Explore the site, admire the tanks, take on the assault course and join in with the hands-on activities. Throughout the year, we also run a programme of fun, family-friendly exhibitions and events.

Andover Museum & Museum of the Iron Age - Andover

Andover Museum, telling the story of the town and surrounding area, opened in 1981, and it was joined in 1986 in the same building by the Museum of the Iron Age, which tells the story of nearby Danebury hillfort.

City Museum - Winchester

Located in the heart of the historic city of Winchester, City Museum tells the story of England’s ancient capital, the seat of Alfred the Great. From its origins as an Iron Age trading centre to Anglo‑Saxon glory, the last journey of Jane Austen to the hunt for King Alfred’s remains, explore the sights and sounds of Winchester past and present in the museum’s three galleries.

Hampshire Cultural Trust cares for over 2.5 million historic objects, from working steam engines to fragile ancient artefacts. Our collections tell the stories of the people who lived in Hampshire thousands of years ago right up to the present day. We welcome researchers to work with our collections, helping us reveal new insights and to support interesting and fascinating exhibitions in our venues for everyone to enjoy. If you feel you can assist us in our research, administration and how we work with the public, we have several roles at our HQ in Winchester and across the region.

Data Hunters and Story Gatherers (Collections) - Winchester / Remote

Data Hunters and Story Gatherers: towards community curatorship is a unique project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.  Hunters and Gatherers is working with a new team of young volunteers to improve collections auditing and research, research significant, untold stories and develop community co-curation and engagement in new and exciting ways. The project is split between Data Hunters, who are hunting for objects in our collections related to both immigration and Basingstoke, and Story Gatherers, who are researching the social history objects in our collections.

Forest Arts Centre - New Milton

Forest Arts has been the creative heart of New Milton for nearly 50 years. Our programme of entertainment includes some of the most exciting touring musicians, stand-up comedy, fortnightly film screenings, talks and community events. Our Green Room café/bar is also a gallery and our annual open exhibition is a place where artists we’ve nurtured in our classes and workshops can display their work too.

Gosport Museum and Art Gallery (GMAG) - Gosport

Alongside exhibitions that showcase the very best of local and national art, we run a programme of talks, workshops, events and hands-on activities. Gosport Museum showcases the town's rich heritage, while the café offers a selection of locally-sourced food, drinks and light refreshments. We also run well-established and unique curriculum-linked science and history sessions for schools on site.
