To help keep everyone safe, our venues are all currently closed. We will re-open as soon as we can, until then, visit Culture on Call, where we continue to bring arts, culture and heritage straight to you, wherever you are.
Staying Safe
To help keep everyone safe, we’ve made some changes at The Gallery, Winchester Discovery Centre. We have introduced a number of measures in line with government guidelines to help manage our visitor numbers and ensure we maintain social distancing to protect you, our staff and volunteers. Please read on for information about booking your visit and what to expect when you are with us.
What we are doing to help reduce the spread of COVID-19

Booking your visit
We have introduced advanced booking to The Gallery to help us manage our visitor numbers. Please book a visiting time for each member of your party, including children.
Please do not visit if you or any members of your household are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or if you have been in contact with anyone who has it. Information on how to re-book or cancel your visit is detailed on your booking confirmation.

Our opening days and hours are available to view online. Please check before you visit.
Social distancing and hygiene
During your visit, we ask that you follow our guidelines on social distancing and hygiene to help keep us all safe. We are operating a one-way system at The Gallery, which is indicated by signage. Hand sanitiser stations are positioned at the entrance to the exhibition space. To keep everyone safe, please wear a face covering when visiting The Gallery.
Toilet facilities
Toilet facilities operated by Winchester Discovery Centre are currently closed. A public toilet is available outside the building.
Café
Café facilities operated by Winchester Discovery Centre are currently closed.
Gift shop
Our exhibition shop at City Space is open as normal. Please use cashless payment for any purchases.
Exhibits
To help keep us all safe, we have reviewed exhibits, interactives and spaces which may pose a risk of spreading the virus. All family interactives have been removed from The Gallery.

In accordance with government guidelines, we have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment to make our sites COVID secure and identify risk control measures.

The Visit Britain We’re Good to Go symbol shows that The Gallery has followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and that we have processes in place to help keep everyone safe.
Winchester Discovery Centre
The Gallery is located on the first floor of Winchester Discovery Centre, a thriving community library in the heart of the city. During your visit to the Gallery, take in our sister venue, City Space, a vibrant and versatile gallery on the Discovery Centre’s ground floor which showcases the very best of Winchester’s thriving arts and heritage scene.
Every year, we host a special exhibition which has an admission charge. The remaining exhibitions in our programme are free, but we suggest a donation of £3.00 to help us continue to bring world-class exhibitions to Hampshire.
Accessibility
Winchester Discovery Centre has with permanent street-level access from the Jewry Street Car Park entrance through an automatic door into the building. There are two Blue Badge parking bays in the Jewry Street Car Park next to Winchester Discovery Centre which are directly opposite the accessible entrance. Parking is free for Blue Badge holders. Accessible toilets are available within Winchester Discovery Centre. The lift from the ground floor of the Discovery Centre to the first floor, where the Gallery is located, is currently out of order. For full details, please visit disabledgo.com.

The Gallery is located on the first floor of Winchester Discovery Centre.
By car: please use city centre car parks or park and ride services.
By rail: The Gallery is a short ten-minute walk from Winchester railway station.
